Thursday, 04.05.2006 - Theme Party "Open Source Computer Vision for Robotics"

Using a camera as a sensor on a self made robot can open up for a lot of interesting modes of application. Still, there is a selection of problems associated with this method for those who build the robots, like how to transfer the images off the camera. Or, even more importantly, how to extract the relevant information from these images. Fortunately, there is something called OpenCV – which is a free online C library – which can aid the user with image processing. Open CV is a tool that is supported by both Linux and Windows. The aim of the presentation is to provide the listeners with the foundation for understanding the use and application of OpenCV. Some example programs are presented, one of them being a robot that is able to follow human faces.

Lecturers: Philipp Tiefenbacher, Stefan Farthofer

When/Where? 7 pm at Metalab, Rathausstr. 6, 1010 Vienna.
